The assignment is to create a formal essay with a descriptive focus. To highly encouraged to use observations from the research project as the topic for this essay. The essay must explore a topic with vivid details in a way that is both insightful and interesting to readers. A good way to do this is by exploring the subject in depth. It should not be wordy or redundant, and certainly should not fill the paper with fluff, but should develop ideas as fully as possible by using plenty of specific details. The essay must have a controlling theme, which is a main idea or point that convey throughout the entire essay. In other words, it should not simply be an essay that describes some of the features of something, for example, a town and where is located. If the essay does nothing more than that, readers are likely to ask, “so what?” There must be a point to the description, and this point needs to be consistent throughout the essay.

  • Use the following criteria when assessing the essay.
  • Do have a tightly focused topic?
  • Is essay well organized and easy to follow?
  • To have shared sensory details that show not tell?
  • To have made a dominant impression?
  • Does the essay have an engaging title?
  • To have proofread and edited the paper for grammatical and punctuation errors?
  • To have submitted a Self-Reflection/Self-Assessment along with the final draft?
